This language table defines a set of code points equivalent to the Chinese language table used in the .asia TLD. The table was developed to support the registration of both Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese domain names, derived from the original language tables for .cn and .tw respectively. This table and also considers characters specific to Hong Kong as described in the Hong Kong Supplementary Character Set.
The use of this table supports the purpose of this TLD to reach out to all Catholics regardless of language or script. Its use in other registries, plus the reuse in this registry represents a de-facto standard for Chinese domain names. Using this common language table adds to the stability of Chinese domain names globally.
