LAT is a three character string, and it is not an IDN. These two characteristics makes LAT string just the same as COM or NET, so there are no known operational or rendering problems for the gTLD string.
IDNs will be offered at the second level for spanish language. There are a number of TLDs that currently offer IDNs at the second level sucessfully without known operational or rendering problems.
