The mission of the .MEMORIAL TLD is to provide people a namespace on the Internet to offer memorials, obituaries, tributes and honoring to great events and people in history, loved ones, and people deserving of recognition. The primary purpose is to allow people a meaningful and permanent way to memorialize the people and events that matter most to them.

We anticipate a variety of reasons that businesses and individuals would want to acquire domain under the .MEMORIAL TLD.

Public institutions are one group of intended registrants in .MEMORIAL. These groups can create companion websites for the existing, physical memorials they maintain, with historical, visitor or other useful resources about the memorial. Many cities and towns across the world have some type of memorial or monument they could complement with a domain name and its related technologies.

Businesses in the memorial industry may want to create a professional web presence including online stores or shopping experiences, or use blogs, wikis and file sharing sites to support their merchandising, retailing efforts and business goals related to memorials.
