As described under Questions 18(a), the purpose of the .MADRID TLD is to:
(a) facilitate digital communications from, to and within the Madrid Community;
(b) provide a platform for the urban and regional development in the digital space of the Madrid Community;
(c) strengthen the image of Madrid in the online world.

The intended registrants of the TLD include the residents of the Madrid area, businesses active in the Madrid area, contributors to the cultural, sport and tourism life of the Madrid area as well as any other legal entities or individuals who contribute to the welfare of the Madrid area.

The intended end-users include the general public with an interest in Madrid. This comprises one the one hand the public in the Madrid area and on the other hand the public world-wide with an interest in Madrid.

All the activities of the Region of Madrid are related to .MADRID TLD serve the community-based focus of the TLD. They involve the active development of the name space and other activities to support community-based eligibility and name selection processes described under Question 20.

The purpose of the .MADRID TLD is of a lasting nature because it exactly matches the popular use and generally accepted meaning of the name of Madrid. The lasting nature of City of Madrid, of the Madrid area and of the Madrid community are established beyond doubt, as is their intimate association with the name of Madrid.
As indicated in Question 18, the .MADRID TLD application is enshrined within the development of technological projects that will benefit the Region of Madrid’s citizens. One of the most important projects is the electronic management of all the administrative procedures.
