The mission and purpose of the .SHAW TLD is to enhance and complement existing brand strategies of Shaw and present the organization in a consistent manner. As such, Shaw intends to limit registration of domains either for its exclusive use or for use by closely affiliated organizations in a manner that contributes to the purpose of this TLD. Shaw also intends to govern the domain names registered to limit confusion and enhance user experience. To accomplish these objectives, Shaw may be the sole registrant of domains in the TLD. However, due consideration has been made to all aspects of registry operations including the functions and policies defined below.

As a leading Canadian telecommunications company and Internet Service Provider (ISP), Shaw has built its business on providing best-in-class communications and Internet services for home and business customers, including 250 Mbps download speeds for residential Internet customers, one of the leading speeds in North America.

The goal for the .SHAW TLD will be to extend and reinforce our leadership position and enhance customer and user experiences, especially with respect to Internet services and applications. This will help us serve our 3.4 million customers, including 1.8 million subscribers to Shaw Internet and more than one million home phone customers, as well as attract a new generation of customers with enhanced customer service and innovation.
